How to Care for Your Kagawa Lacquerware

Lacquerware might seem delicate, but with a little care, it can last for generations. Here are some simple tips to keep your Kagawa lacquerware in perfect condition:

  • Washing: Wash your lacquerware by hand using a soft sponge and a mild dish soap. Do not soak it in water for a long time. After washing, dry it gently with a soft cloth.

  • Avoid Machines: Never put lacquerware in the dishwasher, microwave, or oven. The high heat can cause warping, cracking, or discoloration.

  • Storage: Store your lacquerware away from direct sunlight, as UV rays can damage the lacquer. If you need to stack items, place a soft cloth or a piece of paper between them to prevent scratches. Lacquer also dislikes extreme dryness, so it's best to store it in a place with moderate humidity.

  • Enjoy It! The best way to care for lacquerware is to use it regularly. The natural oils from your hands and the gentle act of washing help to maintain its beautiful sheen and make it even more durable over time.

  • 手洗いで優しく: 柔らかいスポンジと中性洗剤を使って優しく手洗いし、すぐに柔らかい布で水気を拭き取ってください。長時間のつけ置き洗いは避けてください。

  • 機械のご使用は控えて: 食器洗い機、電子レンジ、オーブンはご使用いただけません。急激な温度変化が、ひび割れや変色の原因となります。

  • 直射日光を避けて保管: 紫外線は漆を傷める原因になりますので、日の当たらない場所での保管をお願いいたします。重ねて収納される際は、布や紙を挟んでいただくと傷を防げます。
